Enter your material cost, your time and the profit you want. The calculator adds Etsy's fees on top and shows the price to list, so the fees do not eat your profit.

How to use this calculator

  1. Enter the material cost of one piece, or bring it over from the Resin Cost Calculator.
  2. Enter how long one piece takes you and the hourly rate you want to earn.
  3. Add overhead and the profit markup you want on top of your full cost.
  4. Check the fee numbers against Etsy's current fee page, then list at the price shown.

How the calculation works

  • Full cost = (materials + packaging + time × hourly rate) × (1 + overhead %)
  • Money you want to keep = full cost × (1 + markup %)
  • Price = (money to keep + fixed fees + fee % × shipping) ÷ (1 − fee %)

Dividing by (1 − fee %) is what puts the fees on top of your price instead of taking them out of your profit.

Worked example: pricing a coaster

Materials $4, 20 minutes at $20 an hour and 10% overhead give a full cost of $11.73. A 50% markup means you want to keep $17.60. With $5 shipping and Etsy's standard US fees, list the coaster at about$20.47.

Pricing tips for resin sellers

  • Price sets the same way as single pieces, then offer a small set discount rather than cutting the unit price.
  • Recheck prices when resin, shipping or fees go up.
  • Photos and descriptions that show quality let you charge for your time.
  • Keep a simple record of cost and price for each design to see which ones are worth making.

Frequently asked questions

How do I price resin art?

Add up materials, your time at an hourly rate and a share of overhead. Add a profit markup, then add the marketplace fees on top, so the fees do not come out of your profit.

How much should I charge for a resin coaster?

It depends on your costs and time. With $4 of materials, 20 minutes at $20 an hour, 10% overhead and a 50% markup, a coaster sold on Etsy with $5 shipping should be priced at about $20.47.

What fees does Etsy charge on a sale?

This calculator starts with Etsy's standard US fees: a $0.20 listing fee, a 6.5% transaction fee on the item price and shipping, and payment processing of 3% plus $0.25. Fees change and vary by country, so check Etsy's current fee page and edit the numbers.

Should I include my time in the price?

Yes. If you leave labor out, you are paying yourself nothing, and you cannot afford to grow or to hire help later. Even a modest hourly rate gives you a price you can keep.

What markup should I use?

Many makers use a markup of 30–100% on top of their full cost, including labor. Pieces with unique designs or limited runs can sit at the top of that range.
